The Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games often referred to as the ‘Friendly Games’. The first games were held in 1930 ,Hamilton Canada where 71  countries sent athletes to take part in six sports and 59 events. Since then, the games have been held every four years  but not 1942 and 1946 with the Second World War.It has changes from the past years the Games were known as the British Empire Games until 1966.
When it got held it Canada they change its name to the commonwealth game  In 2000 the Commonwealth Games Scotland planned a commonwealth youth games for teens aged 14 to 18.     New Zealand  has  only got 46 medals and England got 174 top of the leader board.The cook Island have got 1. Edinburgh hosted the Games in 1970 and 1986.
The 2002 Games in Manchester saw for the first time full medal events for elite athletes with a disability  in a fully sports programme. This will be continued at Glasgow in 2014.
